인디 애니메이션의 왕으로 불리는 빌 플림턴 감독은 장편 애니메이션 전체를 손으로 그린 최초의 인물이기도 하다. 1987년에 그는 단편 애니메이션 <Your Face>로 오스카상 후보에 올랐다. 2005년에는 단편 <Guard Dog>로 또 한 번 오스카상 후보에 올랐다. 그는 1991년 <Push Comes to Shove>로 칸영화제 심사위원상을 수상했다. 2001년에는 또 다른 단편 <먹다>로 칸영화제 비평가 주간 단편영화 부문 대상을 수상했다. 2006년에 그는 국제애니메이션협회로부터 평생 공로상을 받았다. 그는 현재 사워도우크릭에서 벌목장을 운영하는 사악한 쌍둥이 형제와 싸우는 카우보이에 관한 뮤지컬 서부극이자, 9번째 애니메이션 장편인 <Slide>를 제작 중이다.
Bill Plympton is considered the King of Indie Animation, and is the first person to hand draw an entire animated feature film. In 1987, he was nominated for an Oscar® for his animated short <Your Face>. In 2005, Bill received another Oscar® nomination, this time for his short <Guard Dog>. Push Comes to Shove won the prestigious Cannes 1991 Prix du Jury; and in 2001, another short film, <Eat>, won the Grand Prize for Short Films in Cannes Critics' Week. In 2006, he received the Winsor McCay Lifetime Achievement Award from The Annie Awards. Bill is currently working on completing his ninth animated feature, <Slide>, which is a musical Western about a mythical cowboy who battles the evil twin brothers running the logging town of Sourdough Creek.
