시놉시스Synopsis
탐욕과 폭식에 빠진 한 남자가 있다. 빠르게 용해되고 끊임없이 진화하는 이미지는 풍요와 결핍 사이에서 극명한 대조를 만들어낸다. 최초로 컴퓨터 애니메이션을 사용한 작품 중 하나인 이 풍자 애니메이션은 여전히 기아와 빈곤에 시달리는 세상에서 방종에 대한 경고를 던지고 있다.
The NFB's 29th Oscar®-nominated film. In this animated short, director Peter Foldès depicts one man’s descent into greed and gluttony. Rapidly dissolving and ever-evolving images create a contrast between abundance and want. One of the first films to use computer animation, this satire serves as a cautionary tale against self-indulgence in a world still plagued by hunger and poverty.

헝가리계 영국인 감독이자 애니메이터다. 그는 영국인 아내 조앤과 함께 <Animated Genesis> (1952), <On Closer Inspection> (1953), <A Short Vision> (1956) 등을 시작으로 여러 애니메이션 영화를 제작했다. 그는 이후 파리로 이주해 컴퓨터 애니메이션의 초기 선구자가 되었다. 폴데스는 동화(inbetweening) 방법을 사용한 최초의 애니메이터 중 한 명이기도 하다. 컴퓨터 애니메이션의 선구자로 불리는 그의 영화 <굶주림>은 칸영화제 단편영화 부문 심사위원상을 수상했으며, 아카데미상 후보에 오르기도 했다.
Peter Foldès was a Hungarian-British director and animator. Foldès made a number of animated films in collaboration with his British wife Joan (b. 1924), starting with the allegorical Animated Genesis (1952), On Closer Inspection (1953) and A Short Vision (1956). Foldes later moved to Paris, where he became an early pioneer in computer animation. Foldes was one of the first animators to use the Tweening method. He is one of the pioneers of computer animation with his film Hunger, which received the Jury Prize in the "short film" category at Cannes Film Festival as well as an Academy Award nomination.
