시놉시스Synopsis

세계는 점차 락다운 상황에 익숙해지고 있다. 그러나 대부분의 여성들에게 나머지 세상이 돌아가는 동안 한 공간에 갇혀 있는 상황은 새로울 것 없는 일이었다. 이 영화는 빅토리아 매플백 교수가 가정에서 요리와 가족들의 끼니를 챙기는 일은 대개 여성의 몫이었음을 논하며 "여성은 늘 어떤 형태로든 락다운 상황에 놓여 있다"고 언급한 것에서 영감을 받아 제작됐다. 그녀의 제자인 아비 아룸바캄은 부엌과 요리에 대한 주변 여성들의 반응과 이야기를 모아 영화를 만들었으며, 이 고단하고도 억압적인 일에 대한 자신의 상반되는 감정을 드러내고자 했다.

While the world was getting used to lockdown, for many women being stuck in a room while the rest of the world rolled by was nothing new. Lockdown Kitchen was inspired by a chance remark by Professor Victoria Mapplebeck who observed “…women have always been in some form of a lockdown” while discussing cooking and feeding the family which was often done by women in the household. Her student Abhi Arumbakkam crowd-sourced responses from women in her circle about their relationship to kitchen and to cooking to create Lockdown Kitchen, which hopes to reflect her own ambivalence about this onerous and tyrannical task.
