서울국제음식영화제

올해 한국영화 100주년을 기념하여, 1950~1990년대 한국영화 거장들의 작품을 통해 한국 사회와 음식문화를 돌아보는 특별전. 한국영상자료원의 후원으로 마련된 이 특별전에서는 한국의 전통적인 혼례와 장례 문화를 엿볼 수 있는 (1956)과 (1996)를 필두로 엄선된 8편의 한국영화가 상영된다. 1960년대 한국전쟁 이후의 사회상을 담은 (1961)과 (1963), 산업화에서 소외된 이들의 삶을 담은 (1975), 1980년대 도시 개발과 고도성장 이면의 사회상을 드러낸 (1980)과 (1988), 섭식 장애를 통해 여성의 몸과 욕망에 대한 사회적 통찰을 보여 주는 (1995)까지, 시대상과 함께 그에 따라 변화해 온 음식의 사회사 또는 먹고 살아가는 것의 의미를 돌아보는 기회가 될 것이다.

Celebrating 100 Years of Korean Cinema, this retrospective showcases eight Korean classic films from the 1950s to the 1990s to look back into the changes in Korean society and the ways Koreans ate and lived in each era. The selection includes The Wedding Day(1956) and Festival(1996) which provide a look on a traditional wedding and funeral respectively, An Aimless Bullet(1961) and Rice(1963) on the post-war life and society, Road to Sampo(1975), Good Windy Days(1980) and Chil-su and Man-su(1988) depicting the marginalized lives under urban development and rapid economic growth, and Three-Oh-One, Three-Oh-Two(1995) which deals with eating disorder to explore women’s desire from a social perspective. Supported by the Korean Film Archive, this retrospective will offer a great opportunity to explore and discuss about the changes of Korean society and culture through food.
