시놉시스Synopsis

셰프의 길만 바라보고 달려온 로샨 칼라는 뉴욕에서 인도 음식으로 미쉐린 스타를 받은 뛰어난 셰프다. 하지만, 기대에 부응하고 명성에 부합해야 한다는 스트레스 때문에 날카로워진 그는 음식 에 트집을 잡는 손님과 싸움까지 하고, 결국 레스토랑에서 해고를 당한다. 좌절감에 빠진 채 아들을 만나러 돌아간 인도에서 그는 아들과 함께 오랜만에 고향을 찾아 자신이 어린 시절에 영감을 받았던 맛집들를 방문하고, 처음 요리를 가르쳐주었던 스승을 찾아간다. 그 과정을 통해 가족의 소중함을 다시 느끼고 점차 요리에 대한 열정도 되찾기 시작한 로샨은 초심으로 돌아가서 아들과 절친한 후배 조리사와 함께 푸드트럭에 도전하기로 한다. 과연 로샨은 가족과의 관계를 회복하고 푸드트럭 장사에도 성공할 수 있을까? 일에 지친 현대인들에게 진정한 행복의 의미가 무엇인지 질문을 던지는 영화로, 국내 개봉작 <아메리칸 셰프>의 리메이크작이다. 맛깔스러운 음식, 흥겨운 음악과 춤, 인도의 다채로운 풍경과 함께 펼쳐지는 아빠와 아들의 오감만족 여행을 담아낸 유쾌하고 밝은 영화.

Chef is the story of Roshan Kalra, a celebrated Michelin star Chef at an Indian restaurant called Galli, in New York. In his desperate attempt to continuously please his customers and live up to his fame, Roshan loses his mojo and with that, both his personal and professional life fall apart. Roshan goes back to India to meet his 11-year-old son, Armaan and wife, Radha Menon. Things take a dramatic turn when Roshan is forced to rethink his life, consequently leading to him launching a food truck by the name of ‘Raasta Café’. Taking to the road, Roshan goes back to his roots to reignite his passion for the kitchen and his zest for life, family and love. As the two relive old memories on their journey around Indian cities, they create many new ones, strengthening their bond. In a second coming-of-age, Roshan grows to realize that re-prioritizing the things that are important in his life is the key to finding happiness again.
