중국 본토에서 시카고로 온 첸은 시카고예술학교 졸업생으로 대부분의 시간을 애니메이션 드로잉에 할애하고 있다. 처음 그녀가 중국중앙예술아카데미에서 시카고예술학교로 왔을 때 그림과 사진을 전공했으나 3년 반이 지난 지금, 첸은 2D 실험 애니메이션과 코믹스에 집중하고 있다. 작품 속에서 그녀는 사랑과 절망, 보통 사람들의 정신적인 삶에서의 상상과 현실 등 이러한 역설을 표현하는 것에 흥미를 가지고 있다.

Transplanted to Chicago from mainland China, Fenglin Chen is a School of the Art Institute of Chicago graduate, who spends most of her time drawing creatures frame by frame. She firstly transferred from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in China to School of the Art Institute of Chicago as a painter and photographer, but after three and a half years of learning and experimenting her major focuses right now are 2D experimental animation and comics. In her work, she is interested in showing the love and the despair/the reality and the imaginary of ordinary people’s psychological lives; these are the paradoxes she likes portraying.
